October 2007

We are very excited to have had Jaime Canaves, FAIA, IIDA as our presenter for our September meeting. He gave a lively presentation about Architecture around the world and showcased his book Bienal Miami + Beach 2001-2005: A Retrospective.

As a returning president to CSI this 2007-2009 term, I have some experience in the position and my primary objective for this year is to get the message out….”CSI Miami provides interesting programs and Educational sessions for Architects, Contractors and Industry Representatives” . When we get the message out, membership will increase, which is our secondary objective for this year.

I just got re-energized by attending the SE Conference, the national Executive Director, Wade Marlow t has taken a special interest in this Chapter, and both the National group and the region group have asked me to let them know what we need, and they will be here to support us.

We are also planning two meetings with our northern neighbors, a Joint Holiday party in December with the Ft. Lauderdale Chapter, and a “Tri-Chapter Event” organized by the Palm Beach Chapter in Deerfield Beach in March
Look for further monthly newsletters.

We are trying to streamline our meetings, by having all our board meetings with a teleconference call on Thursday evenings prior to the monthly board meeting. I will be hosting them from our conference room at Zyscovich, so any interested members can attend at my office and listen in and participate.

Our October meeting brings Robert J. Kobet from “Sustainaissance International, Inc” –to make a “ Green presentation” describing funding strategies and material selections for your projects. He will also address for our Industry members how they can get the word out to Architects and Designers regarding their own “green “products.
Enough for now, I look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.

Sincerely,
Debora Fields
